Job Overview

Responsible for policy identification and analysis, representing the university at all levels of government, coordinating engagement efforts and assisting in executing the university’s government relations strategy.

Essential Functions

  • Identify, articulate, analyze the university’s public policy expertise for local, state and national agenda on a variety of topics including higher education.
  • Engage with internal university stakeholders and external interested parties to advance the university’s agenda.
  • Provide active leadership to advocate for university interests. Represent university to appropriate organizations to develop relationships and maintain contact.
  • Work closely with academic institutions and administrative organizations on policy development and analysis. Promote educational opportunities for students.
  • Assist with the development and execution of engagement strategies. Provide support for various projects and communications.
  • Track legislative, regulatory and policy issues and draft issue briefings, policy memos, etc.
  • Coordinate public officials visits to campus and serve as designee.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).

Required Education

Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience

Five (5) years of relevant experience.

Additional Qualifications Considered

Five (5) – Ten (10) years of relevant experience.
