Job Overview

Serve as an administrative officer for the department, sharing the responsibility for the overall department vision, and implementation of strategic initiatives. Assist in the oversight of all housing operations and information technology initiatives.

Essential Functions

  • Design, coordinate, and supervise systems and procedures that promote innovation and efficiency in managing a comprehensive housing contract, selection process, and Service Center operations.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the housing operations and customer service initiatives to identify updates and enhancements that meet the needs of residents and ensure consistency with the mission of Housing, Campus Services, and the University.
  • Lead the planning for and implementation of information technology initiatives for the department with both technical and non-technical staff. Effectively manage the capabilities of the current housing management system and other corollary systems in the department as well as identify opportunities to enhance or streamline services.
  • Assist with forecasting occupancy as well as developing and monitoring revenue and expense budgets.
  • Lead the collection of data and timely preparation of informational and statistical reports.
  • Assist in the development of marketing strategies and public relations activities.
  • Contribute to and participate in strategic planning, department goal setting, data/assessment efforts, and development of policies and protocols. Communicate staff trends, concerns, and achievements regularly with supervisor and Housing Leadership Team.
  • Counsel students and other constituencies with expertise in one or more areas pertaining to Housing and Food Services (application process, collections, financial aid, student accounts, and student records and registration). Employ professional judgment and decision-making skills to meet students’ service needs. Manage service-related inquiries.
  • Assists with all major functions of University Housing including, but not limited to move-in, move-out, Admissions events, trainings, and retreats.
  • Participate in professional activities and represent Housing Services at meetings and events that promote effective operation of the residence hall programs.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
  • Serve as an after-hours contact for live-in staff for residence hall facility emergencies.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Nine (9) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

  • Five (5) years of experience in housing administration/management on a college campus or similar environment. At least one (1) year of supervisory experience.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
