The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) in the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Cincinnati (UC) invites applicants for an open non-tenure track position at the level of an Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice to support its educational mission. The primary responsibility will be teaching selected electrical engineering undergraduate courses to CEAS students at UC and at the Chongqing University, CQU-UC Joint Engineering Co-op Institutes in Chongqing, China.  The undergraduate courses include but are not limited to: (1) Computer programming, (2) embedded systems, (3) semiconductor physics and devices, (4) engineering electromagnetics (5) controls (6) electronics, and signals and systems. It is required for this position to teach at least one semester per year in Chongqing, China, such courses will be taught in English.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have at least a Master’s degree in the field of Electrical Engineering or closely related field prior to effective date of the appointment.
  • Candidates must have at least five (5) years of experience in industry-based electrical engineering or related field.   
  • Should have a minimum of 1 academic year of teaching experience in at least one of the areas referenced above.
  • Candidates will also be required to obtain immigration documents for entry/work eligibility into China.

 

Primary duties: Include course preparation and curriculum development, delivering lectures and instructing laboratories, holding office hours, grading and preparing assessment materials.  Additional responsibilities will include participation in service activities and duties assigned by Department Head as needed, such as membership in committees and interaction with External Advisory Board.

 

Appointment Details: Initial appointment is up to three years and may be renewed.  Anticipated work load is three courses per semester.
