About the Job

The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor of English to teach, produce scholarship, and perform service, with primary teaching duties in the area of the Accelerated Learning Program (ALP).  Our ALP program is in high demand by students, and our new hire will play an immediate role in helping to grow the classroom offerings.


UC Blue Ash College is one of the largest regional colleges in Ohio and one of the largest and most diverse colleges at the University of Cincinnati. We offer primarily associate degrees in career and transition programs as well as general education courses and technical baccalaureate degrees to approximately 4500 students. 

Job Overview

UC Blue Ash College is an open-admissions, teaching-focused institution, and English & Communication is a collegial department committed to student success. The department is supportive of collaborative research and innovative teaching and offers broad opportunities for service. The English & Communication Department is actively engaged in promoting equity and inclusion in composition courses. To that end, the ALP has been developed in an effort to address an equity gap and help more students successfully complete first year composition within one semester.

Essential Functions

  • Teaching four sections of writing per semester (a 4/4 load), including but not limited to co-requisite composition (Accelerated Learning Program), English Composition, and Developmental Writing;
  • Participating in program assessment and curriculum development;
  • Participating in department, college, and university service, such as serving on committees;
  • Engaging in professional and scholarly activities such as presentations at scholarly venues, publication in relevant professional publications, or other scholarly methods of disseminating knowledge.

Required Education

A doctorate degree in English, Rhetoric and Composition, or a closely related field is required prior to effective date of appointment.

Required Experience

At least three academic years of experience teaching writing at the college level.

  • a list of at least three professional references with contact information. Short-listed candidates will be asked to provide letters of recommendation. Preliminary interviews will be conducted via Zoom.
