Job Overview
The Department of Chemistry invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor - Educator position beginning August 15, 2025. This position is a non-tenure eligible Assistant Professor. The initial term is three years and is renewable upon satisfactory performance. The retention and promotion criteria for Educator faculty emphasize teaching excellence, commitment to professional development, and departmental service. Research productivity is not expected or evaluated, but is permitted and supported.
Essential Functions
- Teach an average of 12 contact hours per semester of lecture and/or lab courses for majors and nonmajors. Teaching responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, teaching general chemistry courses for science majors and/or general, organic, and biochemistry (GOB) courses for allied health students. Courses may be assigned during the day or evening.
- Participate in ongoing professional development in the discipline of chemistry, chemical education, and/or the scholarship of teaching and learning.
- Participate in departmental service such as committee involvement or new course design.
Minimum Requirements
The following are required prior to the effective date of appointment:
- Ph.D. in Chemistry or closely related field with 18 credit hours of graduate level coursework in chemistry.
- One academic year of college-level teaching experience in chemistry or closely related field.
