The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College (UCBA) is one of the largest regional colleges in Ohio. The Department of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science (MPCS) currently has 31 full-time faculty teaching courses from developmental mathematics through calculus, differential equations, statistics, business analytics, as well as physics and computer science. Job Overview
The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College Department of MPCS invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Statistics/Data Science, intended to begin August 15, 2026. The American Association of University Professors serves as the collective bargaining agent for full-time faculty; see the Chapter's website (https://aaupuc.org) for details of the bargaining agreement.
Essential Functions
- Teach a range of statistics, data science, and business analytics courses at the freshman and sophomore levels including but not limited to Introduction to Statistics, Elementary Statistics, and Business Analytics I & II. Utilize various teaching pedagogies in the classroom, and be flexible with the use of different modes of instruction (face-to-face, fully online, and hybrid). The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours (usually four courses) per semester and may include daytime, evening, and/or weekend classes; class sizes normally range from 20 to 30 students.
- Participate in the governance and committee work of the Department, College, and University such as but not limited to search committees, the Technology Committee, and the Faculty Senate Academic Affairs Committee or any other committee with service need and/or opportunity.
- Engage in ongoing professional development in the discipline of Data Science/Statistics and/or the scholarship of teaching and learning such as attending workshops/seminars/conferences, presenting at seminars/conferences, and publishing articles.
- Faculty members will be expected to use our course management system (Canvas) and any textbook-specific systems, as well as other relevant classroom technology.
- Hold regular office hours to meet with students.
Minimum Requirements
All of the following prior to the effective date of the appointment:
- A Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science or in a related field. A degree in a related field requires at least 18 graduate credit hours in either Statistics or Data Science or a combination of both; and
- One (1) academic year of teaching experience in Statistics or Data Science at the college level as instructor of record.
