Job Overview
UC Clermont invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Health Information Systems - Educator faculty position beginning August 1, 2025. The UC Clermont Health Information Systems program is fully online and accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management (CAHIIM). The program also includes the online Healthcare Management Associate Degree, Medical/Biller Coder and Cancer Registry Management programs. UC Clermont is an open admission regional campus located 25 miles east of the University of Cincinnati in Batavia, Ohio with an enrollment of approximately 3,500 students. The college offers a variety of certificates, transfer programs, two-year technical degrees and baccalaureate degrees.
Essential Functions
- Assistant Professor Educator – this is a blended position with both faculty and administrative responsibilities.
- Faculty responsibilities make up roughly two-thirds of the responsibilities and includes teaching 9 credit hours per semester for two semesters, ongoing Professional Development and research, service to the department, college, university, and community.
- The actual teaching load will depend on assigned administrative responsibilities but may include at least a 3-credit release per semester.
- Administrative responsibilities may include providing leadership and support to those working within the programs, overseeing an active advisory committee, program assessment, experiential learning oversight, new program development, fulfilling all accreditation-related activities, and a willingness to participate in all departmental duties.
- All candidates must have the appropriate degree awarded by time of appointment.
- The position includes teaching health information systems courses that are across the spectrum of courses including medical coding, revenue cycle, legal and ethical issues, health administration, data analysis, healthcare technology and experiential learning.
Minimum Requirements
- Master’s degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics or Master’s degree in closely related area; with a Bachelor’s in Health Information Management or Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Health Information Management.
- Must hold a current RHIA or RHIT; five (5) years of work experience practicing HIM in the healthcare industry and have Online college level teaching experience.
