Job Overview

The Department of Romance and Arabic Languages & Literatures at the University of Cincinnati invites applicants for a non-tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor Educator of Spanish. The position is open to specialists of Spanish language learning and teaching, Spanish linguistics, SLA, second language pedagogy, curriculum development, technology and language learning as well as other related fields of language study. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track, three to five-year appointment with benefits and opportunity for renewal and promotion(s).

Essential Functions

The successful candidate can expect to:
 
·         Teach six courses per year with a range of nine to thirteen credit hours per semester in RALL at the undergraduate level.
·         Coordinate basic Spanish language classes, in which case course reductions would be granted, and one of the courses taught each semester would be a graduate teaching practicum.
·         Teach courses that may include, but not be limited to, Spanish language, literature, culture and/or linguistics courses from the introductory to the advanced undergraduate levels.
·         Demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching by utilizing innovative technologies and evidence-based teaching methods, including Distance Learning and task-based learning.
·         Service activities such as serving on departmental, College-wide, or University-wide committees will also be expected.

Minimum Requirements

Prior to the effective date of appointment, the following are required.
·         PhD in Spanish or related field
·         Two academic years of teaching experience at the postsecondary level
Salary is commensurate with qualifications. Appointment begins August 15, 2026.
