Job Overview

The College of Nursing at the University of Cincinnati is seeking to fill a non-tenured, non-tenure earning faculty position to contribute to the College’s mission of teaching, service, and scholarship. We are currently seeking candidates who are prepared to lead and/or teach in undergraduate and pre-licensure levels for Mental Health Nursing and undergraduate/pre-licensure curriculum courses.

 

Faculty members in the Clinical Track or Educator Track are doctorally prepared in a nursing specialty and hold non-tenure/non-tenure earning faculty positions that are responsible for patient care, patient support, and/or teaching and program development and evaluation in the clinical sciences. May also contribute to clinical research, the scholarly and service missions of the university, administrative service, and other educational activities, expectations for which may be described in letters of appointment and in their unit reappointment and promotion criteria.  

Essential Functions

  • Conduct and teach assigned undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses and seminars.
  • Attend meetings, participate in governance, prepare materials for teaching.
  • Evaluate related work for students and may serve as an academic adviser.
  • May serve on college or university committees.
  • Participate in curriculum development activities.
  • Engage in other activities ancillary to or in support of his or her responsibilities.
  • Review, and where necessary, respond in a timely manner to all University-related communications.

Required Education

Doctoral degree in a nursing specialty (PhD or DNP).

Required Trainings/Certifications

Possess or be able to obtain an active unencumbered RN License in the state of Ohio or be eligible to practice in Ohio with a multi-state license.

Required Experience

  • At least 5 years clinical experience.
  • At least 5 years teaching experience in a university setting, with at least 2 years experience teaching mental health nursing.

  • Demonstrate evidence of effective teaching ability, commitment to student success, and service to the profession.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present complex material to students unfamiliar with a subject. 
  • Ability to work and collaborate with individuals from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.

  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
