The University of Cincinnati Lindner College of Business (LCB) delivers academic excellence with an emphasis on experiential learning in a multi-disciplinary environment, adding real-world value to students and the communities they serve. The college enrolls over 4,500 undergraduate students and 1,100 graduate students and provides them with unique opportunities to build professional experience, cultural competency and leadership skills through co-operative education, internships, field-study research, and cross-disciplinary centers. LCB Student Services includes academic advisors, admissions and recruitment experts, and a team of career development professionals. Career development professionals coach LCB students through their full-time job searches and cultivate mutually beneficial relationships with employers in the Cincinnati region and beyond. The team is agile and connected, nurturing relationships with employer partners, advising students, and delivering career development content.

Job Overview

Lindner is searching for an Assistant Director of Graduate Career Development and Placement. The Assistant Director is a passionate advocate for graduate business students and actively leads and contributes to institution-wide efforts to further career development and placement.

 

The Assistant Director is a member of the integrated Student Services team, working closely with experts in graduate admissions, as well as career development and partnership support, academic advisors and

experiential learning specialists to support cooperative education. Assistant Directors provide coaching to Lindner Business students, empowering students to explore their major and career through understanding themselves, gaining experience to complement their academic and professional careers and preparing for

experiential opportunities with their job search.

 

The Lindner Graduate programs are nationally ranked and consist of the Lindner MBA (Full-Time Cohort, Working Professionals & Online) programs, 8 specialty masters programs & 20+ certificates .

 

This position will have the option of a hybrid work schedule (3 days in the office/2 days work from home) for those with a residence within OH/IN/KY following 90 days of training. Residence must be in the tri-state area within reasonable distance to UC Main Campus to have ability to report to campus as required. Remote work arrangements are subject to change in accordance with university policies.

Essential Functions

  • Advise and coach graduate students across multiple formats, including cohort-based, online, and working professionals, to support their career progression and job placement.
  • Instruct Career Management course delivering curriculum tailored to industry trends, job market demands, and graduate student career needs.
  • Collaborate with program directors, faculty, and employer partners to create and refine course content that addresses evolving industry standards and the unique career needs of graduate students.
  • Partner with Lindner’s teaching and career experts to design and enhance career curriculum, ensuring content relevance for both virtual and in-person graduate student experiences.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with employers to expand internship and full-time job opportunities for graduate students and collect feedback from these experiences.
  • Curate, organize, and execute professional development opportunities, including webinars, workshops, and networking events, to enhance graduate student career readiness and marketability.
  • Actively contribute to the admissions process by participating in recruitment efforts to attract high-caliber students to graduate programs.
  • Establish and maintain alumni mentorship programs and networking opportunities for graduate students, leveraging Lindner's alumni network to offer insights, connections, and career guidance.
  • Manage digital resources (such as a career management portal, resume and cover letter templates, and industry guides) for students.
  • Provide support and programs that address the career needs of diverse student populations, including international students, underrepresented groups, and those transitioning from non-business backgrounds.
  • Collaborate with admissions, marketing, and data analysis teams to promote job placement achievements and ensure accurate data submissions for rankings and accreditation.
  • Collect, analyze, and report job placement data, including top employers by program, to showcase student success and identify trends.
  • Assist in onboarding activities and orientation for graduate students.
  • May supervise non-exempt employees or career coaches.

Three (3) years of relevant work experience

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Master's Degree in education, higher education administration, college student development, college student personnel administration, business or a closely related field.
  • Experience working in a University Career Services Office
