Job Overview
Direct and manage all aspects of the pre-award grant submission and grant management process for ALL College of Medicine (COM) academic departments/units.
Essential Functions
- Direct and manage the pre-award grant submission process for all College of Medicine academic departments/units.
- Oversee the COM pre-award grant submission process, including serving as an Authorized Organization Representative for the University and the College of Medicine, coordinating with UC Sponsored Research Services for processing of grant applications, just-in-time requests, grant awards, budget modifications, and subcontracts in accordance with university processes and procedures.
- Develop, recommend, implement, and communicate policies and procedures related to grant submissions, grant account setup, and progress reports.
- Direct and manage a team of grant administrators that are responsible for submitting all College of Medicine grants, including hiring, training & development, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, assigning duties, approving time off, etc.
- Establish standard operating procedures and develop, implement and enforce departmental and central grant policies and ensure grant administrator compliance with university policies and procedures.
- Serve as an expert resource in pre-award grant management. May serve on committees and special projects.
- Direct and supervise exempt and non-exempt staff.
- Prepare and manage budgets coordinating with UC Physicians (UCP) when necessary.
- Assess, evaluate and advise leadership on the financial impact of major initiatives.

Required Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field.
- Nine (9) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
Required Experience
Five (5) years of relevant experience.
