Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), a nationally prominent comprehensive college for the performing and media arts, seeks a full-time Assistant Dean of Student Services to start in March 2025.

CCM's Assistant Dean for Student Services works to oversee student well-being and ensure that CCM students have access to high-quality programs, resources and services that define the CCM Experience. The Assistant Dean coordinates and oversees CCM's academic advising program, connects students with College- and University-level resources, and evaluates and refines CCM policies and processes to better serve our students.

A member of the CCM Dean's Leadership Council, the Assistant Dean for Student Services works closely and collaboratively with the CCM Dean, the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the Assistant Dean for Admissions & Enrollment Management, and their staffs to represent student issues and deliver a comprehensive CCM experience that features rigorous artistic and academic work, emphases on health & wellness, and a commitment to making CCM a truly diverse, equitable and inclusive place to teach and learn.

Essential Functions

• Provide strategic leadership for student service operations; develop and manage a comprehensive range of resources and experiences that support student success, health, and well-being.
• Supervise academic advising staff and oversee strategic advising initiatives; assist the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs in matters relating to advising and partnerships with departmental faculty
• Monitor student data and utilize technology to identify and lead proactive interventions; assist with reporting on student assessment, academic success, and learning outcomes.
• Partner with campus-wide student support offices, including Advising & Academic Services, Counseling and Psychological Services, the Division of Student Affairs, Enrollment Management, and others.
• Lead CCM student well-being efforts.
• Serve as CCM’s Deputy Title IX Coordinator, Equity and Inclusion Liaison, and OEO Resource Officer in collaboration with the Office of Gender, Equity, and Inclusion.
• Manage and coordinate student-engagement events and activities such as Welcome Week, Convocation and regular wellness-focused events.
• Support co-curricular initiatives for students including student organizations.
• Assist with student-facing communications and messaging, collaborate with faculty mentors, and engage with concerned parents.

Minimum Requirements

Prior to the effective date of the appointment, the successful candidate must have a Master’s degree in a relevant field. This could include but is not limited to fields such as education, administration, enrollment management, music, theatre, dance, or media production. Candidates must also have a minimum of five years of experience in college-level student services and support, demonstrating skill in organization, communication, collaborative project management, time management, and conflict resolution. A background in and/or knowledge of the performing arts is preferred.

Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree or Terminal Degree.

Required Experience

• Seven (7) years of relevant work experience.
• A minimum of three (3) years of higher education administrative experience.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion and a proven record of achieving diversity goals.
• Some positions may require a record of scholarship and professional achievement that would meet the criteria for appointment as a full professor with tenure.
