The University of Cincinnati College of Law seeks an experienced and innovative Assistant Dean of Admissions & Financial Aid to lead our J.D. admissions program. The individual in this position will lead and direct a program that will meet the school's recruitment and admission goals. This position is charged with the development of strong relationships to attract a well-qualified, diverse entering class for the College of Law. The Assistant Dean of Admissions & Financial Aid holds primary responsibility for recruitment, admissions, enrollment, and financial aid for the College of Law and reports directly to the Dean.


General Responsibilities

Recruitment Management

  • Develops and oversees administration of the Law School’s recruitment and admissions strategies, including the development of a metrics system to ensure enrollment of a diverse, highly qualified student body, and utilizes historical data to determine new market opportunities
  • Develops recruitment plans (yearly and multi-year) grounded in current trends, institutional data and in collaboration with leaders, divisions, University enrollment management and the College marketing team.
  • Leads the review and evaluation of applicant files to determine the admissibility of applicants using established school admissions standards.
  • In collaboration with the director of Marketing and Digital Media, develops marketing strategies to support key admissions goals, including the production of relevant multi-media products (e.g. website, blogs, video).
  • Utilizes admission data and funnel reports to monitor student projections, yield, drop rates, and retention.
  • Represents the school at national and local recruitment events, which requires the willingness to travel including some weekends, and coordinates staff representation at recruitment events as needed.
  • Offer insights to the Dean, Associate Dean and their designees on the design, messaging, and timing of promotional literature, promotional items, and display materials for admissions recruiting and supervises the execution of such marketing strategies.
  • Provides information regarding academic programs offered and admissions policies and procedures for prospective and admitted students.
  • Oversee application processing and applicant communication for graduate law programs.


Leadership and Administration

  • Oversees Admissions office annual operations and scholarship budget.
  • Develops and oversees financial aid and scholarship administration and programming including financial aid literacy and counseling.
  • Works closely with the finance and business director to track, predict, and meet University net tuition revenue goals.
  • Works with Assistant Dean for Student Affairs to make advanced standing and transfer decisions.
  • Acts as a liaison to student groups and pre-law advisors to enhance and develop programs to improve admission yield and student diversity.
  • Oversees and manages daily operations and office scheduling of the admissions team.
  • Supervises Admissions staff, including hiring, performance management, training, discipline, merit and promotion recommendations.
  • Engages in effective communication in written and oral form.
  • Collaborates across organizational boundaries with discretion and the capacity to maintain confidentiality.


Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s degree appropriate to the field -AND- a minimum of two (2) years of higher education administrative experience. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion and a proven record of achieving diversity goals.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years or more of supervisory experience.
  • J.D. degree
