Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati College of Law, the nation's 4th oldest law school, seeks a dynamic leader to advance one of its core strategic priorities—ensuring that the College remains among Ohio’s top law schools in the opportunities it creates for students to find rewarding and career advancing employment upon or shortly after their graduation.  Reporting directly to the Dean and working closely with the Dean’s entire leadership team, the new Assistant Dean for the Center for Professional Development will establish the strategic direction for the College’s career services functions, and work with others to build student professional identity.  

 

The ideal candidate will be collaborative and visionary, with a passion for student success and the educational mission of the College of Law, and a demonstrated commitment to inclusive excellence.  The candidate’s background will reflect the potential to forge deep connections with students and to build strong and lasting relationships across the entire legal employment spectrum and beyond, within the greater Cincinnati region and across the country and the world, in order to facilitate a wide variety of employment opportunities for all of our students.  

 

The Assistant Dean represents the College at activities at the local, state, and national levels. The Assistant Dean's efforts are informed by knowledge of industry trends and a strong command of the legal ecosystem.

Essential Functions

  • Creating and implementing career education programs and related activities
  • Creating and implementing professional identity programming and related activities
  • Conducting employer outreach and cultivating employment opportunities
  • Supervising collection, maintenance, and reporting of graduate employment outcomes
  • Financial oversight for the Center for Professional Development
  • Supervision of the Center for Professional Development staff

Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree or Terminal Degree.


 

Required Experience

  • Seven (7) years of relevant work experience.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of higher education administrative experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion and a proven record of achieving diversity goals.
  • Some positions may require a record of scholarship and professional achievement that would meet the criteria for appointment as a full professor with tenure.

Additional Qualifications Considered

JD is required.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
