About the Department
The University of Cincinnati Lindner College of Business (LCB) delivers academic excellence with an emphasis on experiential learning in a multi-disciplinary environment, adding real-world value to students and the communities they serve. The college enrolls over 4,500 undergraduate students and 1,100 graduate students and provides them with unique opportunities to build professional experience, cultural competency and leadership skills through co-operative education, internships, field-study research, and cross-disciplinary studios. The college’s new $120 million, 225,000-square-foot facility, Carl H. Lindner Hall, which opened in Fall 2019, positions Lindner among the nation’s best business schools with excellent programs and high growth potential.
Lindner Career Services is an award-winning team of career development professionals who coach Lindner College of Business students through their co-op and full-time job searches and cultivate mutually beneficial relationships with employers in the Cincinnati region and beyond. Co-op at Lindner is a game changer, enabling students to engage in multiple, paid, professional work experiences that fit the real and varying needs of employers. The team is agile and multidisciplinary – coaches advise students, work with employer partners, and teach a required career development course. As a result of the team’s stellar work developing relationships with students and employers, they were recently awarded the “Exemplary Career Center Program” by the National Career Development Association (NCDA).
Job Overview
The Assistant Dean of the Lindner College of Business Career Services Center provides strategic and visionary leadership to advance experiential learning, co-operative education, career preparation and success of all undergraduate and graduate students and recent alumni. Moreover, the Assistant Dean is critical in the formation and management of corporate partnerships. The Assistant Dean plays a significant and visible role in moving the institution’s strategic and operational initiatives forward by building relationships within Lindner and across the institution as an innovative and trusted partner. Success in the role requires a solution-focused leader with demonstrated breadth of knowledge, skills, and depth of operations. The role is responsible to think broadly and creatively in all aspects of delivering career services to the many constituencies. The Assistant Dean helps the college become the go-to source for business problem-solvers. This individual leads a staff of 12+ which is responsible for researching, adapting and implementing technologies and service delivery. This high-profile position reports to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs.
This position will have the option of a hybrid work schedule (3 days in the office/2 days work from home) for those with a residence within OH/IN/KY following 90 days of training. Residence must be in the tri-state area within reasonable distance to UC Main Campus to have ability to report to campus as required. Remote work arrangements are subject to change in accordance with university policies.
Essential Functions
- Provide visionary leadership, direction, and support to achieve University and Lindner mission and goals.
- Manage a group of 20 employer partners comprising the Employer Advisory Board, organizing and facilitating biannual meetings to discuss industry trends, provide input on best hiring/recruiting practices.
- Ensure the department continuously exhibits an exceptional quality of service and is strategic in planning Career Center services.
- Administer, coordinate and supervise functions of the Career Center, including the university's Experiential Education Programs, particularly implementation of required co-op, as well as nurture external relations with employers, alumni, and donors.
- Assist with the preparation and revision of academic program plans for the College, promoting and serving as a model for teaching achievement and professional service.
- Lead and manage a staff with a focus on personal development, conflict resolution, and foster an environment that allows individuals to progress and develop as professionals.
- Ensure plans and operations of the department are inclusive of the diverse population of the Lindner College of Business and the University of Cincinnati faculty, staff, and students.
- Will provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
- Develop policies and procedures with appropriate consultation and review, and serve as or appoint liaisons with other university and community organizations to accomplish departmental goals and objectives, while fostering cooperation and a sense of community.
- Understand the charge of the Career Center and ensure that the department meets the professional standards of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) the Cooperative Education Internship Association (CEIA), and MBA Career Services & Employer Alliance (CSEA).

Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree or Terminal Degree.
Required Experience
- Seven (7) years of relevant work experience.
- A minimum of three (3) years of higher education administrative experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion and a proven record of achieving diversity goals.
- Some positions may require a record of scholarship and professional achievement that would meet the criteria for appointment as a full professor with tenure.
