Job Overview

As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients.

 

The UC Health Hospitalist Group at the Daniel Drake Center for Post Acute Care and Rehabilitation is seeking to fill two (2) full time Advanced Practice Providers (APP) daytime positions.  NP or PA eligible.  Schedule is 7 on 7 off rotation with no nights.

Essential Functions

  • Provide advanced medical care across the continuum of services to patients in the inpatient service areas.
  • Perform physical exams based upon age and patient history as per the Standard Care Arrangement with a collaborating physician.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory tests and other diagnostic studies to assess patients’ clinical problems and health care needs.
  • Develop a treatment plan in collaboration with the physician and members of the multidisciplinary care team.
  • May prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by state and UC Health prescriptive authority.
  • As requested, actively develop and provide evidence-based education presentations and other learning activities for diverse disciplines.  
  • Participate in Medical Team Rounds.  
  • Be actively involved with Quality Management, data collection, and performance improvement initiatives.  
  • Other activities and/or duties assigned to achieve the overall mission of the position within the Department. 

Required Education

For Nurse Practitioner:

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.

 

For Physician Assistant: 

  • Master's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.

Required Trainings/Certifications

For Nurse Practitioner:

  • Active Ohio APRN license with prescriptive authority.
  • Active Board Certification in appropriate nursing specialty.

 

For Physician Assistant: 

  • Active Ohio Physician Assistant license with prescriptive authority.
  • Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Required Experience

For Nurse Practitioner:

  • Three (3) years nursing experience.
  • Additional related work experience may be required depending on specialty/sub-specialty.

 

For Physician Assistant: 

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience is required.
  • Additional related work experience may be required depending on specialty/sub-specialty.
