Job Overview

The College of Medicine, Department of Emergency Medicine, is seeking to fill an 80% FTE, benefits-eligible, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant position. A Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will provide advanced medical care across the continuum of services to patients in the inpatient service areas.

 

Essential Functions

  • Perform physical exam based upon age and patient history as per the Standard Care Arrangement with a collaborating physician.
  • Orders, interprets and evaluates laboratory tests and other diagnostic studies to assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs.  
  • Develops a treatment plan in collaboration with the physician and members of the multidisciplinary care team.  
  • May prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by state and UC Health prescriptive authority.  
  • As requested, actively develop, and participate in providing evidence-based education presentations and other learning activities for diverse disciplines.  
  • Participate in Medical Team Rounds.  
  • Actively involved with Quality Management, data collection and performance improvement initiatives.  
  • Other activities and/or duties assigned to achieve the overall mission of the position within the Department.

Minimum Requirements

Nurse Practitioner: 

  • A Master's degree in Nursing and graduation from an ANA approved Nurse Practitioner Program.
  • Three (3) years nursing experience.
  • Current/valid RN license in the state of Ohio prior to start.

 

Physician Assistant:

  • Graduation from a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessor agencies.
  • Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • Current/Valid license in the state of Ohio prior to start.
