Job Overview

Hoxworth Blood Center (HBC), University of Cincinnati, was founded in 1938 and serves more than 30 hospitals in 18 counties in Southwestern Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Southeastern Indiana. Annually, Hoxworth collects more than 100,000 units of blood from local donors to help save the lives of patients in area hospitals. Hoxworth Blood Center: Saving Lives Close to Home. HBC is located within the College of Medicine and is the only Regional Blood Center owned and operated by a University in United States.

 

The Hoxworth Blood Center is recruiting a full-time (100% FTE) Advanced Inventory Control Specialist in the Division of Product Management, to maintain extensive inventory and support management staff by performing administrative duties. will be trained on first shift, then assigned to work second shift on various weekdays, with rotating weekends, once training is completed.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate work schedules for receiving, inspecting, distributing and maintaining inventory of materials, supplies and equipment. Control equipment and fixed assets inventory and coordinate annual inventory data gathering process.
  • Implement policies and procedures on inventory control and salvage disposal, monitor receipt and disposition of surplus property and resolve problems involved with inventory of supplies.
  • Coordinate with supervisor on disposal of useless equipment, evaluate distribution and inventory systems and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Maintain computerized inventory record systems; update systems, prepare report and recommend database/system changes as needed.
  • Write/edit standard operating procedures, policies, forms, and reference documents.
  • Coordinate training of new staff and existing staff to new processes.
  • Coordinate acquisition of additional inventory to meet demand of customers and/or selling excess inventory.
  • Perform validations and projects as assigned by supervisory staff.
  • Coordinate work of the department as well as interactions/projects with other departments. Provide technical and operational guidance within department and with other departments in related projects.
  • Serve as department manager and technical resource in the absence of management.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education

High School Diploma or GED.

Required Experience

Two (2) years of related inventory control experience.
