About The Department
The College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for the position of Admissions Counselor. DAAP is one of the most comprehensive schools of art and design in the U.S. Programs within DAAP are ranked among the very best in both a world and national class. DAAP has an undergraduate enrollment of approximately 2,000 students.
Job Overview
The Admissions Counselor for DAAP will collaborate with a diverse group of staff, faculty, and student ambassadors to coordinate the recruitment of undergraduate students and support the college's admissions activities. This position will plan and execute small- and large-scale events for DAAP and regularly give presentations related to the recruitment and admission of students. The position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a fast-paced environment; the ability to handle work distractions; and the ability to be successful as part of a team. The person in this position will need to manage their time efficiently, respect issues of confidentiality, and pay attention to details.
Type of Appointment: Full-time, benefits eligible Work Location: 5470 Aronoff (Clifton/Uptown Campus West)Work Hours: Often Monday through Friday between 8AM and 4:30PM. Recruitment activities may take place during evening and weekend hours.
After a probationary period, this role is able to work remotely one day per week (i.e., 4 days in office and 1 day remote). During the summer, an additional remote day may be possible. Remote work arrangements are subject to change in accordance with university policies.
Essential Functions
- Serve and manage a geographic territory to ensure the university reaches various enrollment goals while being fiscally responsible. Serve as the primary resource for contacts in that area. Develop and execute initiatives that best serve the students and organizations in the area. Make data-driven decisions to coordinate and execute travel within that area, including visits to high schools and community colleges.
- Travel locally during the fall and spring and work evenings, weekends, and beyond a traditional work week as needed to effectively perform responsibilities, such as on-campus visit/event experiences.
- Regularly deliver presentations on DAAP’s programs and admissions processes to prospective students and guests, classrooms, and visiting groups.
- Maintain and use information about students and organizations to advise and encourage students from prospect through application and enrollment.
- Increase representation from one or more strategic populations based on the demographics of the territory(i.e. under-represented, high-achieving, transfer, out-of-state, and international).
- Implement and explain university admissions policies.
- May coordinate a specialized programmatic area such as on-campus and off-campus events, student tour guides, tele-counseling, campus visits, outreach and access, high-achieving scholars, website, social media, transfer, communications and marketing, regional campus referrals, etc.
- Work with the DAAP Marketing Team to construct recruitment messages, materials, and other resources.
- Evaluate applications for admission and make holistic admission decisions using many pieces of information. Accuracy and consistency will be needed to ensure the university is properly aligned to reach various enrollment goals.
- Use a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to maintain records and prepare reports as required; generate reports and assist in analyzing and interpreting data for future planning and evaluation.
- Coordinate the DAAP Ambassadors, including but not limited to, interviewing and selecting students, coordinating training, monitoring involvement, and planning and executing events.
