Job Overview

The Adjunct Instructor will teach the NEXT Careers course that serves as a career pathway exploration course that is designed to help learners navigate a new career in jobs of the future. The purpose of this course is to give learners an introduction and overview of all the possibilities of a career in emerging and advanced industries in technology and how to get started.

 

NEXT Careers is designed in a way to support learners as they re-enter an academic learning environment. We believe that a career in technology is accessible to anyone, no matter their background or level of experience. During this course, learners will be guided through a series of workshops that are built with adult learners in mind. Learners will participate in activities, engage in discussions, and complete assignments all designed to help them engage as an active learner.

Essential Functions

  • Attend meetings, participate in governance, prepare materials for teaching.
  • Conduct and teach assigned undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses and seminars.
  • Evaluate related work for students and may serve as an academic adviser.
  • May serve on college or university committees.
  • May participate in curriculum development activities.
  • Engage in other activities ancillary to or in support of his or her responsibilities.
  • Review, and where necessary, respond in a timely manner to all University-related communications.

Minimum Requirements

  • Considerable professional work experience in the given field.
  • Ability to present complex material to students unfamiliar with a subject.
  • Must have outstanding writing skills to present research in written format.
  • Must possess exceptional communication skills and the ability to work and collaborate with individuals from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.

Additional Information

Schedule:

  • NEXT Careers is online and synchronous.
  • Hours are FLEXIBLE.
  • Office hours will be required.
  • There is no overtime for the position, and it is not hourly, so the rate does not change.
  • Office space would be provided, as well as a computer and phone.
