Job Title: Childcare Teacher

Status: Part time and substitute, volunteer positions available, non-exempt

Reports To: Dornetta Grevious – Director 

Pay Rate:  $10.00


Position Summary:

Assist in the smooth operation of the children’s daycare program by supporting the director and meeting the needs of children and families.


Primary Duties:

  • Responsible for the safety of all children in the group ranging in age from 6 weeks to 12 years old
  • Provide and create an academic setting to ensure learning concepts are being retained.
  • Plan and implement activities that enhance children comprehension
  • Responsible for the care, learning, and developmental activities
  • Communicates directly with Parents regarding their child’s accomplishment, academic progress, and daily activities
  • Maintain classroom records, cleanliness, and orderliness
  • Demonstrated skills in the early childhood curriculum and implementation
  • Provide a loving and care environment for all children
  • Create activities that enhance the children’s self-esteem


Minimum Qualifications

  • Recipient of work study award based on financial need and must be admitted into a degree program.
  • Must be enrolled at least part-time (6 credit hours for undergraduate students and 5 credit hours for graduate students), with the exception of summer quarter, or will be a registered student during the next academic quarter/semester for summer work. Student workers must meet the enrollment requirement for the entire quarter.
  • Must be age 16 or older.


Other Requirements               

  • CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain required
  • Must meet or exceed state licensing requirements (6hours per the calendar year)
  • Must be willing to submit to a background check
  • 6hour training
  • 1-2 years of early childhood education experience desired not required
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Proficient in writing and interpersonal skills
  • Flexible work schedule minimum of 15-20 hours per week


Preferred Qualifications

Experience and/or training in Early Childhood and motivation interviewing skills are



Position is not on bus line, candidate must drive.
