Organizational Description:   Founded in 2004, Kennedy Heights Arts Center is a non-profit community arts center with a mission to enhance the life of the surrounding communities through arts and cultural experiences that embrace diversity, foster creativity and build community. As one way to earn revenue to support our mission, Kennedy Heights Arts Center rents our venue to clients for private events such as wedding receptions, parties and corporate events.


Job Description:   The Event Staff will serve as a resource for clients renting venues at Kennedy Heights Arts Center for private events, and provide guests with a positive impression by offering a positive guest service experience. Event Staff is supervised by and reports to the Event Coordinator.


Specific Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an event liaison, ensuring that events are setup in a timely manner and to the expectations of customer and guests.
  • Set up the room prior to events, including moving and setting up tables and chairs.
  • Assist with clean up at the conclusion of events, including taking down tables and chairs, securing items in storage areas, and taking out trash.
  • Greet guests and provide informal venue tours during open tour hours. Provide accurate event and venue information as requested by clients.
  • Creatively resolve issues/complaints as presented by clients and involve Event Coordinator or Executive Director as needed.
  • Help maintain event equipment and report any malfunctions or damage to Event Coordinator. Maintain a clean and safe environment; adhere to all safety procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required skills:   Student must be very reliable, trustworthy and possess excellent interpersonal skills. Must have a friendly disposition and must be able to stay calm in stressful, fast paced situations. Prior experience in special events and/or customer service desirable.


Physical requirements:

  • Ability to speak and hear; close and distance vision
  • Frequent standing and walking with some sitting
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
  • Able to reach hands and arms in any direction and kneel, stoop or crouch repeatedly


Work hours: Varying work schedule to include tour hours on Tuesdays and Thursday from 12-5pm, and/or evenings and weekends as business dictates.


Pay Rate:  $10 per hour
