Work Study Off Campus: IT Technician

 

The IT Technician is a part-time position. The sanctuary operates seven days a week; the regular work schedule for this position would be flexible and may be decided upon a discussion of schedule with management.  Applicant must be reliable. This position reports to the President.

 

The IT Technician is responsible for:

  • Setting up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices (printer/scanner/fax, etc.).
  • Checking computer hardware (server, CPU, mouse, keyboard, etc.) to ensure functionality.
  • Installing and configuring appropriate software and functions according to specifications.
  • Website creation and modification and coding knowledge would be a plus.

 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices (routers, printers etc.).
  • Check computer hardware (HDD, mouse, keyboard, etc.) to ensure functionality.
  • Install and configure appropriate software and functions according to specifications.
  • Develop and maintain server and local networks in ways that optimize performance.
  • Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems.
  • Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment.
  • Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their work.
  • Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, debugging, etc.).
  • Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedule.
  • Identify computer or network equipment shortages and advise management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Recipient of work study award based on financial need and must be admitted into a degree program.
  • Must be enrolled at least part-time (6 credit hours for undergraduate students and 5 credit hours for graduate students), with the exception of summer quarter, or will be a registered student during the next academic quarter/semester for summer work. Student workers must meet the enrollment requirement for the entire quarter.
  • Must be age 16 or older.

  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication ability.
  • Outstanding organizational and time-management skills.
  • In-depth understanding of diverse computer systems and networks.
  • Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles.
  • Seeking a Degree in computer science, computer engineering or relevant field.
