Position Description:              

The Standardized Patient (SP) Program Director will be responsible for supervision and management of the Collaborative SP Program for the Univeristy of Cincinnati College of Medicine/Nursing/Pharmacy/Allied Health Sciences and UC Health System. This includes regularly assessing needs of the program, recruitment, on-boarding, retention, training, evaluation and scheduling Standardized Patients for the Academic Health Center (AHC)  Simulation Program.  The SP Program Director will work collaboratively with faculty/Simulation Program staff to utilize SP methodologies to help achieve the curricular goals/objectives of the AHC health professions schools. The SP Director, working in concert with Simulation Center Medical Education Director, will develop programs to help train faculty and staff in the use of SP best-practices. The SP Director will also play an integral role in developing research projects that will be part of continuous improvement and developing leading edge best practices that can be presented/published in peer-reviewed publications/meetings. The SP Director, in coordination with other Simulation Program leaders, will act as a spokesperson for the SP Program to various internal and external groups. The SP Program Director will also participate in other related functions in the Simulation Program as needed.


In addition, The SP Director will work in collaboration with the Academic Health Center colleges to establish interprofessional programs to develop, practice, and refine interprofessional skills such as communication, collaboration and teamwork within the context of a patient care scenario. These programs will be based off the Interprofessional Education Collaborative Core competencies.


Minimum Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree with three (3) years of experience; -OR- Associate's degree with five (5) years of experience; -OR- seven (7) years of experience.
  • Experience must be in program development or business administration. Experience must include at least one (1) year of supervision.


Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in either education/healthcare field/performing arts (drama) and 3-5 years experience in a staff/supervisory role in a Standardized Patient program. Experience in script writing and/or acting abilities. 
  • Experience working with clinical faculty, developing curricular objectives, analyzing program effectiveness. 
  • Experience in budget planning and resource management.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other members of the Simulation Program team
  • Excellent computer skills and be proficient in various programs including (but not limited to) WORD, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Customer/Client oriented
  • Good problem solver
  • Handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously
  • Experience with moulage/theatre make up
  • Detail oriented
