Staff Auditor

We are seeking a Staff Auditor who will report to the Director, and will plan, supervise and execute a variety of financial, operational and/or compliance audits in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards and the approved annual internal audit plan.

 

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute operational, financial or compliance audits over a wide variety of University units, processes, grants contracts, etc.
  • Identify internal control gaps in processes or systems and recommend and positively influence appropriate remediation
  • Develop recommendations for improving operations
  • Prepare reports for senior management and the Audit Committee
  • Analyze large data sets, as needed
  • Actively participate in exit conferences, providing clarification and supporting information as necessary
  • Build consensus and facilitate organizational decisions through a collegial, transparent environment, assisting in dispute-resolution as appropriate
  • Work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related business field
  • Knowledge of GAAP
  • Demonstrated time management and technical expertise

 

Additional Qualifications

  • Ability to analyze large data sets using software tools
  • Working toward, or willing to pursue a, relevant professional designation, preferably CPA or CIA
  • Experience with or adaptability to UC’s culture, policies, and major administrative systems
  • Excellent judgment and professional skepticism
  • Ability to communicate with individuals at various levels
  • Strong attention to detail, specifically involving analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and utmost confidentiality
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision
