UC Clermont College Chemistry area is recruiting for a full-time (100% FTE) Senior Laboratory Associate. This position will support the University’s mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities.


Essential Function

Under general supervision from a designated administrator, provide support activities for the teaching and research needs of designated laboratories, and to administer the daily operational policies of the laboratories.  This individual will also be involved with training and assisting both students and adjunct faculty with laboratory experiments during lab classes, and should have experience with the following duties:


Primary Duties

  • Supervise, train, assist and instruct faculty and students using laboratory facilities.
  • Provide support activities for the teaching and research needs of designated laboratories and to administer the daily operational policies of the laboratories including
    • Make weekly lab schedules.
    • Prepare reagents and set up equipment for laboratory classes
  • Monitor activities within designated laboratories.
  • Have experience with maintaining all laboratory equipment, including ordering of supplies; perform repair work, and schedule professional repair.
  • Maintain a purchasing card and all the digital record keeping for the financial accounts in the Concur System at UC. Purchase all lab materials, chemicals, and equipment.
  • Experience with disposal of and storage of all chemical lab waste according to regulations by UC Environmental Health and Safety (EHS). Label and store in EHS containers and or bottles for pick up by the UC EHS department for disposal.
  • Maintain the chemical inventory. Keep SDS sheets available in the lab from all chemicals.
  • Communicate with the IT and Facilities departments to solve computer problems and create work orders on lab maintenance needs.
  • Experience with chemical safety program administration.
  • Perform related ad hoc duties based on departmental need.


Minimum Requirements:  Bachelor degree with one (1) year of experience; -OR- Associate degree with three (3) years of experience; -OR- five (5) years of experience.


Preferred Qualifications:  Associates degree and a minimum of three (3) years of chemistry lab experience. 



This position will be a professional position paid at an hourly rate.
