The Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering and Construction Management (CAECM) of the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for fulltime tenure track faculty to support the curriculum and research efforts of the Architectural Engineering Program. Candidates with expertise in any of he recognized areas of architectural engineering will be considered, however, candidates with expertise in the areas of building mechanical systems, building plumbing systems, and building electrical systems are preferred. Evidence of collaboration and interdisciplinary teaching and research will also be strongly favored.


CAECM supports programs in Civil Engineering (CE), Architectural Engineering (AE), and Construction Management (CM).  The Architectural Engineering program, established in 2010, offers BS degree tracks with options to pursue MS and PhD degrees in Civil Engineering as well as an M.Arch degree in Architecture. The AE program will be considered for ABET accreditation in 2017.  AE degree tracks include structural engineering, building mechanical systems, building electrical systems, and construction management. 


Applicants at all levels of professorship will be considered.  Rank and tenure will be determined based on the candidate’s experience. Appointments will be made in CAECM with the opportunity for a secondary appointment in the School of Architecture and Interior Design (SAID) of the College of Design, Art, Architecture, and Planning (DAAP). Successful applicants will be expected to develop and teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels, conduct funded research in areas such as smart buildings, energy performance, simulation and sustainability, energy and water harvesting, interior air quality, passive and active building systems, dynamic facade systems, solar design and daylighting, or other areas supporting the mission of Architectural Engineering and Architecture programs, engage in scholarly activities, and participate in service activities in the College of Engineering and Applied Science.  Collaboration with faculty in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and the School of Architecture and Interior Design is expected in support of cross-disciplinary research associated with the University of Cincinnati’s Creating Our Third Century initiative (


Minimum Qualifications:   Candidates must have a PhD in Civil, Architectural, Construction, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
