The College of Medicine, Department of Cancer Biology currently has postdoctoral positions available under a Training Program in Cancer Therapeutics sponsored by the National Cancer Institute. This position will support the University’s mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities.

 

Job Summary: Individuals who have recently been awarded a Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D., or comparable degree, and whose goals are to acquire additional training and experience in order to enter a career in academia and/or a research center.

 

Job Duties: The postdoctoral candidate will choose to work under the mentorship of one of 20 preceptors. Possible areas of research include the role of receptor tyrosine kinases in hormonally related malignancies (Susan Waltz), the regulation of gene expression in kidney cancer by the von Hippel-Lindau complex (Maria Czyzyk-Krzeska), the role of telomere proteins and DNA repair factors in telomere replication (Carolyn Price), or the impact of prolactin signaling in chemotherapeutic resistance (Nira Ben-Jonathan). The overall goal of the training program is to provide training to promising cancer researchers in the action of therapeutic agents used in the treatment of cancer.

 

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D., or comparable degree

 

Ideal Qualifications: Obtained a Ph.D. and/or M.D. within the past 3 years and U.S. citizen or Green Card holder (per grant regulations).
