The University of Cincinnati (UC) invites applications for Director of the Accounting PhD program and the Norwood and Marjorie Geis Chair of Accounting in the Lindner College of Business, with a start date of Fall 2018.  UC has a large accounting program, with a combined total of over 800 students in its undergraduate, Master of Science in Accounting, and Master of Science in Taxation programs. After graduating 4 accounting PhDs in 2012, UC plans to reopen its PhD program in Accounting in Fall 2019. UC’s online MS Tax program ranked #1 for US public institutions by US News & World Report in 2015.  The 2015 Public Accounting Report survey ranked UC #8 for its MS in Accounting and #13 for its undergraduate accounting program among comparable sized US schools.

It is an exciting time at UC.  UC has grown rapidly and now has over 44,000 students and almost 10,000 non-student employees (www.uc.edu).  A new state of the art building for the Lindner College of Business projected to cost around $120 million with 225,000 square feet should open in Fall 2019 (http://business.uc.edu/news/departments/college-relations/2016/aug/new-building.html).  Within the department, 18 new faculty (10 research active faculty) have joined since July 2012.

Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include serving as the Director of the Accounting PhD program, maintaining an active, high quality publication record, and mentoring other faculty and doctoral students in developing their research agendas and publishing in high quality accounting journals. Quality teaching is expected; teaching load is commensurate with research productivity. Rank of Associate or Full Professor with tenure (commensurate with credentials).   All areas of accounting will be considered.

Position Qualifications: Candidates must have a doctorate in accounting from an AACSB accredited institution (or equivalent), with consistent research productivity, including recent high quality, refereed accounting publications. Candidates’ research publication record and other academic qualifications must be commensurate with holding an endowed position at a Tier I research institution.  Preference will be given to those with prior experience as a PhD accounting program director or having other significant academic leadership experience.  Preference will be given to scholars with a proven ability to work with other faculty on research projects that result in publications. Excellent teaching credentials are highly valued. Significant public or private accounting experience as well as professional accounting certifications are valued, but not required. Candidates must possess both written and spoken English fluency, and provide evidence of such through the interview process.

Representatives will be available at the San Diego AAA meeting in August to answer questions about the position. For additional information about the university please go to www.uc.edu.
