The University of Cincinnati’s College of Arts and Sciences has a position available for a First-Year Experience Project Assistant.  Working in partnership with the Assistant Director, Graduate Assistant, student staff, campus partners, other stakeholders, the First-Year Experience Project Assistant co-facilitates planning, implementation and assessment efforts with a focus on the first-year experience in the College of Arts & Sciences.  This co-op or internship position will work for one semester, reporting to the advising & recruitment leads. 


The A&S First-Year Experience Project Assistant may:

  • Guide the planning for College Day that takes place during Welcome Week
  • Support A&S new student orientation planning
  • Coordinate A&S Transfer Welcome events
  • Create content and manage the A&S First-Year to Career web presence
  • Compile, write, and/or co-facilitate first-year experience curricula
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director to support course management of A&S First-Year Experience courses
  • Present to prospective and admitted students
  • Serve as an A&S Ambassador for the Recruitment Team
  • Provide feedback for updates/changes on recruitment materials as needed
  • Assist with coordinating A&S Recruitment Team visits
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Create and implement programmatic assessments and research projects
  • Manage some clerical tasks

Minimum qualifications:

Co-op employment must be related to some phase of the field of study in which the student is engaged, and diversified to afford a range of experience. Co-op students must meet the enrollment requirement for the entire quarter.


  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and within a team


It is preferred (but not required) that candidates have a FEDERAL WORK STUDY award for the 2018-2019 academic year, which would transition to a Co-Op position when funds are exhausted.
