The College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine- Cardiology, is looking for a Clinical Research Project Manager. This position will support the University’s mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities.

 

Job Summary/Duties: This position will serve as a project director for a key position in a developing industry research partnership. With limited supervision, actively participate, plan, and evaluate multiple, complex and/or multi-faceted research programs for one or more designated departments, programs, or central units. This position will work independently with the senior most hospital, college, and industry scientific and administrative leadership.

Primary Responsibilities:

 

  • Establish and reinforce a culture of excellence in every aspect of the partnership: written communications, verbal communications, preparation for meetings, meeting timelines, handling of challenging issues. Address any mistakes that arise effectively and rapidly.
  • Accessibility in real-time by research team and industry partner.  Providing good service to the industry partner(s) is critical.  
  • Serve as the project director for the key trials in this partnership(s) throughout all stages of each trial's life cycle (e.g. early planning, start-up, retention, close-out, and database management).  Coordinate the efforts of key research staff, including the research coordinator, grant writer, as well as those of our industry partners.
  • Develop standard operating procedures and all needed documents for each trial and the research partnership.  
  • Initiate and coordinate the hiring of any new staff needed.  Expedite hiring through well-written job descriptions and widespread advertising.
  • Manage the research funding of this project, including the handling of all invoices and accounts.
  • Plan for and prepare all meeting agendas, materials, and presentations.  Virtually all meetings should be accompanied by a well-prepared PowerPoint.  The focus of each meeting should be based on data and timelines when possible.  Follow-up on all action items from these meetings.  

 

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in related discipline or equivalent education/experience. 5-10 years of directly relevant experience, preferably in an academic or clinical setting. Prior experience in project management and/or directorship preferred as well as regulatory experience.
