The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine is seeking a a full-time (100% FTE) Business Administrator. This position will support the University’s mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff, and all our activities.

 

Essential Function:   Professional employees that typically have direct supervisory responsibilities of multiple units, in addition to major management responsibilities for a wide range of projects, tasks and relationships associated with UC Emergency Medicine’s Research division. Responsibilities include oversight of the day-to-day operations of UC Emergency Medicine’s research operations as well as maintaining strong relationships with managers of UC Health Clinical Trials and UC Sponsored Programs.  The business administrator will provide recommendations and advice to management or other groups on process related topics and conduct or carry out work procedures and activities in accordance with local, state, federal, and university regulations.

 

 Characteristic Duties:

  • Work with research faculty to manage the financial, administrative, and operational activities of UC Emergency Medicine’s research division.
  • Monitor monthly variances and provide ongoing recommendations to ensure funds are appropriately used in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain strong functional relationships with leadership from UC Health Clinical Trials and UC Sponsored Programs.
  • Coordinate budget preparation with research programs, and monitor financial performance for the research division.
  • Offer input in determining purchasing priorities and make recommendations for major capital expenditures; Serves as a seasoned and proficient professional.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need.
  • Work closely with EDBA in establishing and maintaining consistency in departmental workflow processes and procedures for the research division.
  • Provide direct supervision and/or oversight of research staff as appropriate.

 

Minimum Qualifications:  Bachelor degree with three (3) years of experience; - OR- Associate degree and five (5) years of experience; -OR- seven (7) years of experience.  Degree must be in Business Administration or related field. Financial and administrative experience is required and must include three (3) years of supervision. Incumbent must possess the business/financial experience to be fully proficient in performing most or all work assignments.

 

Skill Level:  Requires intermediate knowledge of business area, including standard accounting principles, terminology, theories and practices; duties are of moderate to high complexity and require a wide range of problem solving; development of practical and thorough solutions, proactive efforts, exploration and adaptation of changing business and financial systems, identification, evaluation and resolution of routine and non-routine problems; and integration, coordination, and interpretation of business data. Experience and/or training include intermediate to advanced level experience working in one or more business related area(s). Intermediate Microsoft excel skills; ability to manage multiple projects. Detailed oriented. Demonstrate exceptional organizational and prioritization skills Experience working in a research setting is preferred.
