The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) in the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for one full-time educator-track faculty position (Requisition #26167).

 

Successful candidates will assist in developing and executing engineering curriculum for the Medical Device Innovation & Entrepreneurship Program (MDIEP) within Biomedical Engineering.  The Medical Device Innovation & Entrepreneurship Program is a multi-disciplinary program dedicated to advancing clinical practice through medical device design.  The program involves the Colleges of Engineering, Medicine, Business and Design. The individual in the Educator position will focus on teaching and will be expected to teach graduate and undergraduate engineering courses focused on biomedical engineering in medical device design, assist in coordinating capstone experiences which could involve industry collaborators, advise graduate and undergraduate students, and participate in professional service (such as Departmental, College, or University Committees or professional society leadership). In addition, the successful candidate will participate in curriculum and course development. Rank, salary and startup funding will be negotiated commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:   PhD in Biomedical Engineering or a related field or terminal Masters in Industrial Design is required.  In addition, a minimum of 3 years practicing medical device design as a full-time employee of a medical device or related consumer product company.  Alternatively, those with a BS degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related field and possess 8 years professional experience in medical device development will also be considered.

 

The Department of Biomedical Engineering currently has 32 associated faculty members and an enrollment of about 325 undergraduate and 40 graduate students. The Department offers an ABET-accredited undergraduate program in Biomedical Engineering. The department also has graduate programs that confer Master of Science, Master of Engineering, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. The Department has research focus areas in Cardiovascular Engineering, Medical Device Design, Medical Imaging, and Regenerative Medicine/Tissue Engineering.
