Job Overview

As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients. The College of Medicine, Department of Surgery, and Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to provide outpatient care services at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. This position will support the University’s mission and commitment to provide excellent patient care.  

 


The Advance Practice Provider (APP) candidate will assist in providing comprehensive, continuous, and personalized care to patients. This position will focus on providing outpatient care at Holmes and West Chester in the areas of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery including Breast and Body Surgery, Microsurgery, Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery, Peripheral Nerve Surgery, Burn Surgery, Craniomaxillofacial Surgery, Aesthetic Surgery of the Face and Body, and Wound Care Surgery. The APP will promote a collaborative relationship between the patient and surgical teams, including other clinicians, residents, medical assistants, and support staff.

Essential Functions

  • Evaluate and treat patients with conditions treated by the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery including new patients, follow up patients, as well as pre- and post-operative patients.
  • Collect developmental history, perform physical examinations, perform procedures, schedule surgery.
  • Coordinate care of patients including returning calls for clinical inquiries.
  • Maintain accurate records in a timely manner.
  • Perform related duties based on Surgeon or Divisional needs.
  • Monday – Friday, 8AM to 5PM.
  • No Call.

Required Education

For Nurse Practitioner:

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.

For Physician Assistant: 

  • Master's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.

Required Trainings/Certifications

For Nurse Practitioner:

  • Active Ohio APRN license with prescriptive authority.
  • Active or able to obtain Ohio DEA License.
  • Active Board Certification in appropriate nursing specialty.
  • ACLS certification.

For Physician Assistant: 

  • Active Ohio Physician Assistant license with prescriptive authority.
  • Active or able to obtain Ohio DEA License.
  • Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • ACLS certification.

Required Experience

For Nurse Practitioner:

  • Minimum of three (3) year experience.
  • Additional related work experience may be required depending on specialty/sub-specialty.

For Physician Assistant: 

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience is required.
  • Additional related work experience may be required depending on specialty/sub-specialty.

Additional Qualifications Considered

Surgical Assistant Certification is ideal.
