Job Overview

The College of Nursing at the University of Cincinnati is seeking to fill a non-tenured, non-tenure earning faculty position to contribute to the College’s mission of teaching, service, and scholarship. We are currently seeking candidates who are prepared to lead and/or teach in undergraduate and pre-licensure levels for undergraduate/pre-licensure curriculum courses.

 

Faculty members in the Clinical Track or Educator Track are preferably doctorally prepared in a nursing specialty and hold non-tenure/non-tenure earning faculty positions that are responsible for patient care, patient support, and/or teaching and program development and evaluation in the clinical sciences. May also contribute to clinical research, the scholarly and service missions of the university, administrative service, and other educational activities, expectations for which may be described in letters of appointment and in their unit reappointment and promotion criteria.  
 

Essential Functions

  • Conduct and teach assigned undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses and seminars.
  • Attend meetings, participate in governance, prepare materials for teaching.
  • Evaluate related work for students and may serve as an academic adviser.
  • May serve on college or university committees.
  • Participate in curriculum development activities.
  • Engage in other activities ancillary to or in support of his or her responsibilities.
  • Review, and where necessary, respond in a timely manner to all University-related communications.

Required Education

  • Must have obtained a Doctorate or terminal degree from a regionally accredited college or university of recognized standing in a field appropriate to the requirements of the position.
  • Doctor of Nursing (DNP) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD in Nursing or other healthcare field).
  • A Masters Degree in Nursing with the expectation of enrollment into a DNP or PhD program within 1 year of hire will be considered for a candidate meeting the requirements for appointment at the Instructor rank.

Required Trainings/Certifications

Active Unrestricted State of Ohio RN license or the ability to obtain license to practice in Ohio.

Required Experience

Five (5) years clinical experience.

Two (2) years teaching experience in a post-secondary nursing educational program.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Demonstrate evidence of effective teaching ability, commitment to student success, and service to the profession.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present complex material to students unfamiliar with a subject.
  • Ability to work and collaborate with individuals from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience teaching in online and onsite modes.
