Job Overview

In this role you will be expected to give first preference to UC CON CRNA students in scheduling clinical educational experiences.

Essential Functions

  • Orient students to the physical facilities, policies, and procedures consistent to the role students will assume.
  • Collaborate with the student and the Nurse Anesthesia Program Director in developing and modifying the learning experiences.
  • Demonstrate expert practice and serve as role model.
  • Assess the learning experiences available and arrange for opportunities and use of resources to promote beneficial educational experiences.
  • Maintain formal and informal communication with the student and the Nurse Anesthesia Program Director.
  • Serve as a liaison between the clinical site, the student, and the Nurse Anesthesia Program Director.
  • Provide feedback to the student and the Nurse Anesthesia Program Director to assist in student evaluation.
  • Encourage Clinical Preceptors to provide feedback to the student and the Nurse Anesthesia Program Director to assist in student evaluation.
  • Maintain standards of anesthesia practice by evaluating the student for competency and reporting any patterns of unprofessional behavior, inadequate knowledge, or lack of preparation to the Nurse Anesthesia Program Director.
  • Maintain an accurate record of student’s attendance and report absences to the Nurse Anesthesia Program Director.
  • Monitor student clinical time commitment to avoid unreasonable clinical time and conflicts with didactic classes.  Students must be released from the clinical area to attend didactic classes.
  • Provide clinical rotation objectives and learning outcomes.

Minimum Requirements

  • Licensed RN.
  • Licensed CRNA and Master’s degree or Advanced Practice Certificate.

Additional Qualifications

  • Unrestricted CRNA License.
  • 2 years’ experience.
  • Doctoral degree and/or Master’s degree.
