Job Overview

Develop and implement the university’s strategy to increase the number of transfer students at UC and ensure their success. Develops partnerships with community colleges to allow students to transfer smoothly to UC. Oversee and direct the recruitment and admission of prospective transfer students and provide direct oversight in the administration of transfer student advising and student support.

Essential Functions

• Develop and implement strategic direction and action plans to increase transfer student enrollment.

• Advance and support UC’s vision to increase transfer student enrollment and support Strategic Sizing efforts.

• Responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of admissions programs; formulate, recommend, approve, and implement internal procedures and controls; set goals to achieve strategic objectives; assume management responsibility for a wide range of enrollment projects and programs.

• Responsible for collaborating efforts with administrative and academic units and participating in cross-functional policy development and execution that enrich the transfer student experience; formulate, approve, and communicate major policy changes affecting other departments with the authority to grant exceptions.

• Partner with community colleges to create programming, articulation agreements, and advising pathways for use in building a transfer student pipeline for recruitment.

• Develop, implement, and monitor department budget; authority for budget, revenue, and expense planning and approving expenditure; has signature authority for programs or functions within their department; oversees the budget and reports on budget status to AVP level.

• Prepare reports and assessments, interpret, and disseminate information, provide advice, write proposals, deliver presentations, construct contractual agreements, and ensure that all programs and services comply with university, state, and federal regulations.

• May communicate and assist students, parents, and corporate partners resolve questions and complex issues; represent the university internally and externally.

• Monitor and coordinate staff development and training programs.

• Serve on various university, division, and departmental committees, and represent the department at various state and national associations.

• Provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approved time off, etc.).

 

Required Experience

  • Seven (7) years of Transfer and/or Advising experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience
