Job Overview

Operationalize the program and engage stakeholders


•    Partner with Office of Admission to manage recruitment and selection, as well as marketing and communication, with prospective and admitted students and families. Implement selection based on priorities outlined in vision. 
•    Partner with Financial Aid regarding scholarship awarding and vision of merit and need-based priorities. 
•    Partner with UC Foundation to ensure vision is being achieved as outlined in the HHS vision. 
•    Develop framework for students to enter program after their first year at UC on rare occasions. 
•    Develop framework for alumni engagement and support after graduation. 
•    Manage program operating budget and resources, as well as scholarship budget with Financial Aid. 

 

Curriculum & HHS Experience 


•    Develop framework for faculty engagement in program. Identify faculty partners in each college to champion and serve in an advisory capacity.
•    Develop cross-disciplinary service-learning projects (local, domestic, international) based on community needs / student interests. Partner with Service-Learning Advisory Council. 
•    Integrate study abroad and co-op/internships within the Hoffman Scholars experience.
•    Facilitate group reflections and leadership training with each cohort and the HHS community as a whole.
•    Encourage students to attend forum with prominent leaders, speakers, and authors in the fields of business, humanities, and the arts. Encourage students to attend networking events.
•    Host HHS social events each semester to build a sense of community and belonging. 
•    Leverage UHP resources and networks to enhance the Hoffman Scholars experience. 
•    Partner with UHP/Housing to secure honors space in residence halls for students who choose to live in community. 
•    Explore opportunities to partner with the ALS Clinic at UC Health. 
•    Evaluate and assess programming to inform future implementation. 

 

Advising and Student Success 


•    Provide orientation, onboarding, and continued support to students as they enter the program. 
•    Develop advising curriculum to retain students in the program and graduate from UC (and A&S, CCM, LCB).
•    Develop framework to determine scholarship outcome for students who change majors to colleges outside of A&S, CCM, and LCB. 
•    Partner with the UHP to ensure students leverage the opportunities provided to them there. 
•    Partner with the Office of Nationally Competitive Awards to raise awareness of those opportunities. 
•    Establish metrics to measure student success in the program.
•    Hire and supervise advisor in future year as the program scales up. 

Essential Functions

•    Provide strategic planning to expand and promote the academic area.
•    Lead and administer all aspects of the academic program, office, or unit including programming, advising, training functions, fiscal responsibility, and project management.
•    May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.). 
•    Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree + 7 years of relevant experience or Master's degree + 5 years of relevant experience
