Job Overview
The Department of Chemistry at the University of Cincinnati invites applicants for an Educator- track (non-tenure track) position at the Assistant Professor level to begin in the 2024-2025 academic year. This is a non-tenure track nine-month appointment with an initial contract for three years; reappointments based upon performance reviews.
The Department of Chemistry seeks individuals to join our team to engage students and maximize learning in our classrooms, with a focus on student success and retention in our introductory level undergraduate courses. The successful candidate will be expected to use research-based and active learning approaches and evaluate new models of instruction, as well as address the needs of a diverse student population, including differences in ethnicity, race, first-generation college status, accessibility, and academic preparation, through course materials and teaching strategies.
Essential Functions
- Teach undergraduate introductory level chemistry courses in-person with an emphasis on the use of research-based active learning approaches. These courses may include, but are not limited to, General Chemistry I, General Chemistry II or General, Organic and Biochemistry (GOB) offerings.
- Work collaboratively with instructors teaching parallel sections of a course.
- Hold regular office hours.
- Mentor and train undergraduate and graduate teaching assistants.
- Participate in service activities, such as membership in university and department committees, such as, but not limited to, our Teaching Advisory Committee or our Student Awards Committee.
Minimum Requirements
Prior to effective date of the appointment, a Ph.D. in chemistry or closely related field.
